The Northern Wake Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of Captain.

Two different work schedules are available, rotating 24-Hour Shift and 12-Hour Daytime Shift. Work schedule assignments are subject to departmental staffing needs as identified by the Fire Chief.
Educational Requirements: Minimum of a high school diploma or GED with an Associate degree in fire protection technology or a related field. Applicants without an Associate degree in fire protection technology or a related field may submit a body of work to be considered as an equivalent substitute. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Experience Requirements: Minimum of 4-years of fire service experience with 1-year experience in the position of Lieutenant/Driver Operator/Engineer. Experience in a volunteer or combination fire department is preferred.
Job Description: Captain
The position of Captain requires the employee to perform a myriad of different tasks. This role encompasses the many responsibilities required on an emergency scene, as well as the daily tasks of managing a fire station, affiliated personnel, apparatus and equipment, including filling in as the apparatus driver when required. These responsibilities include but are not limited to response to Fire, EMS, Rescue incidents, facilities and equipment maintenance, pre-fire planning, community risk reduction activities, as well as other duties specified by the Fire Chief and/or Immediate Supervisor.

Base Compensation: $48,360 Plus Overtime and Holiday Pay
