GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Performs skilled firefighting, rescue, and fire prevention activities at outlying stations.
Distinguishing Features:
An employee in this class receives and responds to fire alarms, and emergency/accidents, drives firefighting and rescue equipment and operates such equipment at the scene of a fire or emergency call. This employee must execute orders of their supervisor promptly and efficiently. Judgment and initiative are required in fighting fires and emergency rescues. Work is performed under general supervision and by standard operating procedures and is evaluated through reports and by overall effectiveness of operations.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Graduation from high school or GED. Must also have the following certifications: NC Fire Fighter Level I and II, NC Hazardous Material Level I (Haz-Mat Ops), NC Emergency Medical Technician, Instructor Level I Certifications or 3 years experience as a Fire Fighter. Must have a valid N.C. driver's license and be able to pass a Pre-Employment Physical. A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement.
